ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

A service that allows borrowing books not available in our library's collections, as well as sharing book chapters and articles.

ILL Policy

  1. ILL service is available to Boğaziçi University faculty members and graduate students (MA, PhD).
  2. ILL requests are made by filling out the ILL Request Form. For quick access Fill Out the Form
  3. The types of materials that can be supplied via ILL are limited to books, book chapters, articles, and theses.
  4. A library user may request up to five (5) items at a time.
  5. The delivery time for books requested from libraries in Turkey may vary depending on whether the book is on the shelf, the lending library's ILL policy, and postal services. (at least 3 days)
  6. Article and document requests are supplied in PDF format.
  7. After being notified that the book has arrived, the requester must borrow it from the library within three (3) days at the latest and must return it in person and on time. ILL book loan period:
    a. For books borrowed from libraries in Turkey: thirty (30) days.
  8. The requester agrees to use the borrowed book in accordance with copyright laws and to pay the shipping fees for both delivery and return.
  9. To renew a book, the requester must visit the library at least five (5) days in advance to request the renewal. The renewal period and the number of renewals depend on the lending library's ILL policy.
  10. In case the borrowed book is lost, damaged, or returned late, the requester will be held responsible. In such cases, the library's lending rules apply.
  11. The lending library reserves the right to recall the book before its due date.

Rules Applicable to ILL Requests Fulfilled by Our Library

  1. Faculty members and graduate students (MA, PhD) from other universities can benefit from the ILL service.
  2. Domestic libraries submit ILL requests through the Interlibrary Loan Tracking System (KITS), while libraries abroad that are members of OCLC submit their requests through the system. Individual user requests sent directly by phone or email are not accepted and are redirected to the relevant librarian at their institution.
  3. Materials from the Reference Collection, Reserve Collection, Rare Books, Special Collections, and audio-visual materials cannot be loaned out.
  4. The loan period for borrowed materials is set at thirty (30) days.
  5. A library may borrow up to five (5) books at a time.
  6. Borrowed books can be renewed only 2 times, provided they are not on hold (reserved).
  7. A library may request up to five (5) articles at a time.
  8. The library reserves the right to recall the book before its due date.
