Since 2014, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM has been among the member institutions contributing to the national share of the SCOAP³ (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics) consortium, which aims to make research in the field of high energy physics (HEP) openly accessible worldwide through an open access publishing model. Thanks to this contribution, high energy physics articles affiliated with Türkiye are made openly accessible to everyone, while also being incorporated into the national ecosystem through the Aperta Türkiye Open Archive.

SCOAP³ Books: A New Era in Open Access

The "SCOAP³ for Books" initiative, launched in 2019, is an innovative project that aims to convert leading books and monographs in particle physics and related fields into open access.
During the pilot phase covering 2021–2022, more than 90 books were made openly accessible, resulting in a 13-fold increase in download rates. Following this success, as of 2023, a permanent program has been launched to ensure that 10–15 new books are published as open access each year.
