The translation and writing platform DeepL Pro is now available for trial access by members of our university until October 31, 2026.

Founded in Cologne, Germany, in 2017, DeepL is a language platform that translates in over 120 languages, including Turkish. Today, it is used by more than 200,000 institutions worldwide, including universities, global companies, and law firms. DeepL Pro provides support at many stages of research and teaching—from reading foreign-language sources to preparing articles and presentations, and from academic writing in English to international conferences.

1. When Reading Foreign-Language Sources: DeepL Translate

• You can upload articles, reports, and book chapters as PDF or Word files and translate them while preserving the page layout. (2 min: https://www.deepl.com/tr/academy/translate-files)
• With the browser extension (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), you can translate web pages and abstracts in databases without leaving the page. (3 min: https://www.deepl.com/tr/academy/use-deepl-browser-extension)
• For MacBook users, instead of the Safari browser extension, use the Deepl for Mac desktop app: for text in the Safari extension, use the ⌘+C+C shortcut; for text you've typed yourself, use the ⌘+⇧+C+C shortcut to insert the translation directly into the text you've written.
• You can also translate text within images and screenshots.

When Preparing Articles, Theses, and Presentations

• You can translate your Word and PowerPoint files without disrupting their formatting, and perform translations directly within your document using the Word and PowerPoint add-ins.
• By creating a glossary, you can ensure that field-specific terms are consistently translated using the equivalents you define.
• You can choose from suggested alternative translations and switch between formal and informal tones with a single click.

2. When Writing in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese: DeepL Write

• Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Offers word and sentence alternatives for clearer and more fluent expressions.
• You can adapt your text to an "Academic," "Corporate," or "Casual" writing style. This way, you can edit both your article abstract and an email to a colleague using the same tool.
• Available for texts in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.

3. International Meetings and Collaborations: DeepL Voice

• In Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet meetings, each participant speaks in their own language, while others follow the conversation via live subtitles or voice translation in their own languages.
• In-person meetings during conferences and visits by guest researchers can be translated in real time via phone or computer.
• Turkish is supported as a language for speech, subtitles, and voice translation.

Access from Anywhere

You can use DeepL Pro via a web browser, Windows and Mac desktop apps, iOS and Android mobile apps, browser extensions, and add-ins for Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Your Unpublished Work Is Safe

Texts translated with DeepL Pro are not permanently stored on DeepL servers and are not used to train AI models. Therefore, you can safely use it for unpublished articles, projects, and thesis texts. DeepL holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications and is GDPR-compliant.
